London Lessons

Based 8 mins walk from Stockwell tube, lessons are offered at my home from 7am Fridays and Saturdays, through to a finish time of 8:15pm. Some Thursdays may also be available as well as Wednesday afternoons/evenings. For singers, there is a mic and amp set-up in the teaching studio - classical singers can also have their lessons in the church around the corner, and where there is a Clavinova piano keyboard, generous space and good acoustic. Lessons at home are held in the garden studio, seen above in February 2018.

Adult beginners are a speciality and I'm happy to help music industry professionals and Logic users seeking to improve their keyboard skills. Children are welcome as are advanced students. Pupils can prepare for exams or auditions and it's my pleasure to accompany singers and instrumentalists. The Northern line and Victoria line tube is a short walk away if you're heading on to work afterwards, and bus links are excellent nearby.

Periodic concerts give a chance for any standard of pupil to invite a guest or three to hear them in an unpressurised environment, and enjoy the motivation of having a performance to work towards.
After the first lesson, often, clients book in blocks of 3 lessons, payable in advance by bank transfer, or by cheque, cash or izettle in person.

Norfolk Lessons.

I teach in Hindringham, NR21, and lessons are available usually from Monday to Wednesday. Some weekend availability may be possible also.

Pupils have worked at the Royal Opera, toured America in a Rock Band, had a single at no. 2 in the charts, become professional musicians and teachers, and grown in their love of and understanding of music. Some testimonials appear below:-

"As someone who would only sing after a pint of beer or two (but unfailingly so), my singing voice needed all the help it could get. Luckily, since knocking on the door of his flat around nine months ago, Justin's lessons have taken me from daring barely to hum in public to a happy and confident singer. As an experienced teacher, Justin provides a warm and structured environment that puts you at ease from the start while challenging you to stretch yourself every lesson. His lessons develop technique and musicianship in equal parts and bring across not only the fundamentals of singing but a love and understanding of music. I look forward to our lessons every week and couldn't recommend him highly enough!"
Ivo, London

"In the four or so months I’ve taken piano with Justin, I can see and hear a massive improvement in my playing – not just in technical skill but in really listening and feeling for a piece. He really encourages you to work on any weaknesses and I feel much more confident in my own strengths. I’m always amazed by how fast a lesson flies by! Very glad I decided to take up lessons with Justin."

"I've been taking piano lessons with Justin for around 3 months now. When I started, I literally didn't know anything; after the first 2 months of learning how to "walk", I'm starting to read and play songs with two hands, something I always thought would be unachievable for me! And here I am, looking forward to the next class. Justin is the perfect tutor/teacher/mentor: passionate about his job, patient (and with me you need a lot!), understanding, funny and most of all humble.
I highly recommend Justin if you are thinking to take up piano lessons: well worth every penny!"

"After singing in choirs most of my life, I decided that I really ought to get my technique properly sorted out! Justin has a great ability to help you find the minute adjustments you need to make both to improve your sound quality and to make singing less effort. I certainly feel I'm being stretched at times, but never more than I'm comfortable with, and I really notice the improvements that technique makes in choir rehearsals. Having such a professional accompanist to practice pieces with is a real treat too!"
David, Brixton

"I was very lucky to find Justin to accompany my 10 year old daughter Marie for her grade 3 violin exam. Justin is a good pianist, but more than that, he is an inspiring music teacher. I appreciated the way he taught Marie to enjoy the music and helped her to gain confidence. Each practice session was hard work, but Justin made the repetitions so enjoyable! Now the violin exam is done, Marie would like to learn piano with Justin too."
Cecile, Brixton

"Justin always makes lessons varied, amusing and he's ever game for a sing along!"
Richard Osborne, SW19

"Justin's personal, tailored approach to piano tuition turns the often difficult task of learning to play into a joy. His passion for music shines bright in everything."
Chris Coco: Music Curator / DJ / Producer - Radio: Melodica

"I really enjoy my singing lessons with Justin. He is an intelligent and intuitive teacher who listens to my concerns and responds flexibly, adapting the exercises and repertoire to challenge me. He is able to push me to improve without it feeling scary - and he gives lots of positive feedback. It's always a pleasure. I recommend him enthusiastically."
Jane, Ĺondon

"I enjoy my piano lessons with Justin. As well as having brilliant musical skills, he is a good teacher, patient and with a nice sense of humour."
Peter E., Stockwell
